I’m more body confident now than in my 20s and 30s
I’m often saying that being in your 40s can be the beginning of a really exciting new chapter in your life, however I appreciate you might be thinking “well, it’s alright for you, you’re the personal trainer” and I totally get this!
But it isn’t just me. Kim is one of the incredible women who has trained with me for many years now. It is a total joy working with her and she has kindly agreed to write about the changes she has made over the last few years which have made such a difference. I’m so proud of her and love seeing her so happy and confident 💜
“It was the perfect storm….
Turning 40, having a baby and coming out of Covid. I found myself unhappy with my post-baby body, especially weight gain around my stomach and said to myself my bikini wearing days were well and truly behind me!
I’d always been an ad-hoc exerciser, starting training with gusto but never really being consistent and then along came Carly and her holistic, encouraging, knowledgeable approach to training and it changed everything for me.
I truly fell in love with exercise for the first time (and I was in my 40’s!!) I had been gently working on my post-partum fitness with Carly throughout my second maternity leave, I knew what I needed to do but I am a believer that when the time is right for you that is when you will apply yourself.
I returned back to work after my second maternity leave , started following a stricter, more protein based nutrition programme, my HIIT based workouts became more frequent and for the first time I introduced strength training into my routine… and what a game changer.
Fast forward 18 months and I now exercise 5 times a week, lifting heavier weights, enjoy regular functional fitness classes, am a runner , have taken part in a national fitness competition called HYROX, and even pole dance!
My body confidence is higher than it ever was in my 20s and 30s, not because I am slimmer, I still have my wobbly bits but I just feel SO much stronger. I couldn’t live without my regular endorphin rushes I get from Carly’s tailored online fitness classes, she comes everywhere with me (even on holidays). Genuinely if I can do it, you can do it, what are you waiting for?”
I promise that it is possible to feel better than ever in your 40s, and Kim is a shining example of this. There is so much we can do to make this the start of an amazing new chapter in our lives!
